With Beane handing out a series of bonehead contracts to players he drafted, one wonders if the "Josh Allen Effect" got to him. Beane likely ballwashed himself when he picked a Future Hall of Famer in Allen. So once he sees some promise in Knox, Bass, or Bernard the instinct not to back up a Brink's truck in front of their respective homes must be overwhelming. So it may not be just the cap hit with Allen that is causing all these problems.
Beane is definitely on a damage control tour. Some Bills PR person likely advised him to go out there and let people know how "aggressive" you are. Then they probably decided to write everything down in order to brainstorm. Beane said he was aggressive at the Starbucks drive thru, Call of Duty, sports trivia, golf, etc. But then the flack said to just stick with free agency examples.
Also, would a deep playoff push by the Sabres make things even worst for Beane? I can see takes like "even the Sabres have bypassed the Bills".

I don’t know about the last part. I don’t think it would UNLESS the Sabres are aggressive at deadline and the run is due to that.
